05-13-2025

Dear Shasta College colleagues,
One of the goals this year was to re-launch the Innovation Mini Grants. I'm happy to inform you the 2025 Shasta College Innovation Mini Grant competition was a great success, with twenty-five applications requesting over $385,000 submitted from across the district. A well-round group of reviewers representing all employee/faculty groups and multiple divisions worked in teams to read and score the applications and present recommendations for funding.
Congratulations to the following ten innovative applications who have been selected for full or partial funding:
1. Anatomy Support – Tehama (L. Wiggins)
2. AI Literacy Course (C. Cruse)
3. AI Science and Math (D. Fard, T. Shelton, R. Bush)
4. Automating Dashboards with PowerBI (C. Leal)
5. Clifton Strengths (R. Davis)
6. Diesel Technology Service Platform (I. Rivas, S. Angel-Towner)
7. ECE Faculty Fundamentals (B. Sutton)
8. Empowering Faculty with Equity Inquiry (C. Leal)

In total, $92,120 was awarded, with $75,000 coming from the Innovation fund and $17,120 coming from other existing grant funds. All applicants will be receiving individual email notifications regarding their funding status, reader comments, application feedback, and next steps in the near future. A sincere thank you to all the applicants for your innovative and engaging ideas and to the volunteer members of the Selection Committee who dedicated their time to ensuring a fair and equitable process. A short synopsis of the funded projects will be placed on the Office of Grant Development web page for those wanting more information about the funded projects.
